The Toyota Yaris, also known as the Vitz in Japan, is the brand's subcompact car series that replaced the Starlet in 1999. It was designed by Greek automotive designer Sotiris Kovos, who named the car after Charis, the Greek goddesses of charm. Just like its Starlet predecessors, a high-performance RS Turbo variant released in Japan, which came equipped with a turbocharged and TRD-tuned version of 1NZ-FE engine.
