Toyota released the TownAce in 1976 as a medium-sized commuter van that sits between the smaller LiteAce and larger HiAce. One unique feature of this eight-seater model is its fully-foldable second and third row seats that allow increased the cargo space. Aside from having a higher ceiling, this particular Wagon Deluxe edition became one of the few pre-facelift models to exist after receiving a design update in less than a year.

Introduced in 1970, the Toyota LiteAce is a series of light commercial vehicles that consist of wagon and light-duty truck variants. Size-wise, it fits right between the MiniAce and HiAce with the intention of providing a more spacious option that was still compliant with the size and displacement regulations of Japan. GXL wagon editions such as this particular model seated up to eight people and also featured a taller ceiling.
